If you have a child who is a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, or an eligible New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible for one of several options for parent visas, both temporary and permanent.

Sponsorship Application (completed by the sponsoring child)
Visa Application (by parent applicant) and payment of initial fee
Payment of remaining fees (if applicable) at approval stage
Eligibility
General eligibility requirements for a Parent Visa include:
Your child must be a settled Australian citizen or permanent resident
You must be sponsored by your child or their partner
Health
Character history
In addition, depending on which type of Parent Visa you apply for, you may need to meet other eligibility requirements such as:
Pass the “Balance of Family” test (at least half of your children live in Australia)
Pay an “Assurance of Support” bond
Meet an age requirement
